This past spring Monroe Tractor toured New York farms, demoing a new Case IH 2150 Early Riser® planter. Expanding on the great technology of Case IH planters, the latest in the 2000 series integrates high speed and Precision Planting to improve planting efficiency.
As the most important tool in a farmer’s arsenal, we wanted to showcase the agronomic advantages of this latest series. An immediate benefit to farmers is that the 2150 is a high-speed planter, capable of planting at speeds approaching 10mph. During the demonstrations, customers could drive the planter at “uncomfortable” speeds of around 7.5mph, opposed to the usual 4.5 to 5mph. Despite this, it still hit correct seed spacing and population. Customers commented that a gain of 1-1.5mph was enough to increase productivity, a feat easily achieved by this planter.
Not only a speedster, this planter comes with Precision Planting technologies such as vSet/vDrive, CleanSweep, and DeltaForce as factory options. vSet/vDrive allow for precise per-row seed metering, CleanSweep provides residue capture management for agronomic and economic benefits, and DeltaForce keeps row unit rides consistent for optimal seed placement.
Our demos consisted of mainly corn with some soybeans showcased towards the end. Most customer comments were positive, praising the planter’s speed capabilities and Precision components. There was a minor issue with very heavy sod in one location as the planter wasn’t set up for no-till. However, this is an issue that can be avoided by installing a different style of closing system and an option to increase pressure on the closing system.
Monroe Tractor would like to thank our agriculture branches, sales teams, and Precision specialists for helping transport the planter, prepping it for performance, and presenting its real-world benefits in person. We look forward to demonstrating our knowledge and passion for agriculture at similar demo events in the future.
